into the ellipse

an installation to experience entering an ellipse in the small vault in Woodstock's Old Courthouse Arts Center

large vault

Inside the large vault "connecting" - four paintings 10x4 feet each with acrylic paint on canvas LED color changing lighting and video and sound, like an ocean, hoping for the sensation of standing on a ships deck looking at, and listening to a color sea. The video was playing in the vault.

"into the ellipse"

My multi-media installation, “In To the Ellipse“ is in a vault — a safe place? I am fascinated with places we can’t go to, enter or perceive. I desire to explore these tunnels — interior/exterior passageways, interior psychological spaces. I am always trying to connect to the collective conscious.

This exhibition was part of a larger exhibition “ellipse“ curated by e-artgroup. ELLIPSE by definition: A flattened circle or oval. An ellipse is essentially a circle that has been stretched out of shape. Rounded and circular shapes: Ball, balloon, bowl, bubble, bulge, coil, cone, crescent, Cup, curve, cylinder, disk, dome, globe, half-moon, heart, helix, hemisphere, hoop, hump, lobe Loop, orb, ring, sickle, sphere, spiral, tube, oval... Plural ellipses; “omission” or; a series of dots that usually indicates an intentional omission of a word, sentence, or whole section from a text without altering its original meaning.[1] Depending on their context and placement in a sentence, ellipses can also indicate an unfinished thought, a slight pause, and nervous or awkward silence. When placed at the beginning or end of a sentence, the ellipsis can also inspire a feeling of melancholy or longing.
